About a week ago my friend Krista and I took a road trip. We packed up my two kids and her two boys, pilled into her car and headed to Utah for about 3 days. After being in Utah for 3 days we drove to Idaho for 4 days. It was such a wonderful trip. The kids did a really good job driving in the car. You can only expect so much from a 4 year old, 2 two year olds, and a 4 month old.
We drove out on a Sunday night and drove through the night. The kids slept about 6 of the 9 hours. We almost saw an accident on the other side of the freeway, but the car was able to avoid hitting any one. We talked the whole time and of course were pretty dead on Monday. The kids played around my parents house and made lots of messes all day long. Krista and I were so LAZY that day. Since we were so lazy Monday we decided we had better get the kids out of the house on Tuesday.
Tuesday came and we decided to take them to the water park in Murray. The kids loved it. It had a big pool area that went from about 0 feet to 4 feet. It had a water slide and fountains. There was another deeper pool that had diving boards. We spent a few hours out there swimming and enjoying our time. My brother Danny came and it was so nice to have him there. He was a huge help with all the kids.
Danny was a little squished in the back seat between Ryan and Payton
Payton really loved the water. He initially wasn't too sure, but got used to it after a while. He really didn't mind wearing his life jacket. I wasn't sure if he would wear it.
Scarlett was so good. She was in the water most the time floating around. She actually fell asleep for a while.
Every hour they would have a 10 minute break that required everyone to be out of the pool. It was a little nice because it would give us a little break.
Scarlett in her life jacket. It really doesn't look very comfortable but she did fall asleep while we were out in the water.
This is the water slide that they had at the pool. Ryan went on it right when we got there. That kid loves to go in the water and he doesn't seem to be afraid of anything. Payton on the other hand took a lot of convincing to get him to go down this slide. He honestly doesn't even play on the slides at parks. He doesn't seem to like them for whatever reason. Anyways, I finally picked him up and carried him up there. He was really against it, but he saw both Ryan and Austin going down so he didn't fight too much. He and I got to the top and came down together. The water was only 4 feet or so, so I was able to just stand and keep him from going under the water. After the first ride down he really enjoyed it. He wanted to keep going. Danny and I took turns going down with him.
After many of times of going down I was able to convince him to go by himself. So me and Danny took him to the top. I went down the slide first and stood at the bottom waiting for Payton to come down. Danny gave the signal that he was coming. I stood there waiting and as soon as I saw him he was on his back coming head first. I knew he was scared! I caught him no problem. All I can say is he will not do anything like that again by himself. That was a little too much for him. He said it was too scary. He did go down a few more times with me though after. I just don't want him to be afraid of things, but scaring him and making him do scary things may not help! But we will see!
My mom came after she got off work and surprised us at the pool. I was so surprised. It was so nice of her to come. My mom is the best!
