Memorial Day & Backyard Extravaganza

Over memorial day weekend we spent the 3 days at Josh's parents house. We had such a great time. We were able to visit with Josh's grandparents Grandma and Grandpa Johnson. They live in Utah so we don't get to see them that often. We had a great time seeing them. I just love any chance I get to have my kids spend time with their great grandparents. Mine had all passed away before I could remember and meet them. I hope my kids will remember  these special times with their great grandparents.
Payton and Scarlett love going to Grandma and Grandpa's house. Uncle Kevin and Aunt Liz live by grandma and grandpa and they have 5 kids. The oldest is almost 8 and the youngest is almost 6 months. Our kids and their kids get along SO well. Payton loves playing with Jaydn, Maddie, and Lilly. Scarlett and Ella are a little over a year apart, but they are the same size and play pretty well together also.
Their cousins own these 2 gators and our kids loved driving them around grandma and grandpa's backyard. Payton can now drive them with out any problems, and Scarlett doesn't quite get the turning of the wheel, but she can definitely push the peddle down to make it go.
All the kids did a great time playing and taking turns. They definitely wore the batteries out constantly.
It's so great that they all get along and that they are all about the same age. Payton just adores Jaydn and looks up to him so much. He and Jaydn are almost exactly 3 years apart.
Scarlett loved holding and making baby Thomas laugh. She really will be such a great big sister!
We took advantage of the nice weather out side and went to the fair in Chico. We first visited all the animals. There were a lot of baby animals and the kids enjoyed seeing all of them. We walked around for a little bit, and then let the kids each ride on 2 rides. Payton went on the cars with Ella and Scarlett.
Scarlett and Josh went on the swings. At first Scarlett was a little scared, but after it went around a few times she loved it. She actually would not get off the swing. She was crying and throwing a fit.
Jaydn and Payton raced down this super long slide. They both loved it.
Jaydn of course won, since he is bigger and weighs a little more. Payton didn't care at all. He was just so happy that he and Jaydn got to go together
Our family with Great Grandma and Grandpa Johnson.
Monday we decided on staying at the house and having a
BACKYARD EXTRAVAGANZA!
Josh and Kevin went and bought a little pool and a slip-n-slide for the kids. They also got lots of yummy food for lunch. We had so AMAZING sandwiches with all the fixings you could possibly think of.
The kids loved jumping in and out of the pool. They raced each other on the slip-n-slide.
Payton loved every minute of it! He wasn't' nervous at all. He was so brave. Honestly just over this last year he has started to try more things. It totally helps to have his older cousins around. He will do anything that they do!
Payton loving the slip-n-slide!
Uncle Kevin and Uncle Michael began doing one for the money and tossing the kids down the slip-n-slide. They loved this!!! Even Scarlett loved it! She made sure to get her turns!
It was so fun to watch them having so much fun!
Luckily no one got hurt and they were laughing a lot!
Payton being tossed!
The slip-n-slide was a good idea! It worked really good and collected a lot of water on it!
Of course in the Robertson home these fun toys are not purchased just for the kids! They adults always have to give them a try. Josh definitely had to get in on the action.
Payton and Scarlett loved that their dad was playing with them both in the pool and on the slip-n-slide!
Josh trying to get Scarlett to lay back and relax in the pool!
These 2 loved the pool.
Grandma and Grandpa's backyard has a lot of little frogs all over in some of the plants. The kids each found some and were taking them into the pool with them. I think some of the frogs didn't live for very long. These kids named them and were a little rough with them, but they had a good time.
We enjoyed our amazingly delicious sandwiches and fruit for lunch and then enjoyed some homemade ice cream.
The kids played for hours!
We all had a great day! We played a little badminton, some bocce ball, and enjoyed relaxing in the shade with each other. Your BACKYARD EXTRAVAGANZA was a huge success. Mom and dad have the perfect backyard for this type of thing. We can't wait to be able to do this again!

Bike Ride to the park

When its not too hot outside I try to have the kids ride their bikes down to one of the small parks by our house. It is quite nice to be able to walk and follow behind them. They both do really good riding their bikes all by themselves.
I do have to say I am enjoying how spoiled my life is right now with 2 really good kids that are somewhat independent. Scarlett just went from being a baby to a big girl SO fast. Even though I know all this, seeing that I have 4 weeks left of being pregnant I struggle to really appreciate my kids. I am tired a lot, my feet, legs, and back hurt by the end of the day, and I just don't sleep the best.
With all that being said I am very ready to be done being pregnant, BUT I don't know that I am quite ready to have an infant. Our life is going to change, but I know it will be a good change for our family.
These 2 loves of mine are quite excited for baby sister to come out. I know they will both adore her! I am sure Payton will be a big help at first, but once the newness of it wears off he won't want to do as much. Scarlett I am sure will want to do everything. I am sure she will think she is the mommy and baby sister is a doll.
I just love watching Payton and Scarlett play so well together. They definitely don't always agree or get along, but the good times totally trump the bad times.
I just love Scarlett so much! She is a very special girly in our family. She brings a lot of laughter and joy into our home. She is VERY opinionated and knows what she wants.  I sometimes forget how young she really is. She adores her brother and wants to be just like him. She can ride a bike, get dressed by herself, get her own clothes, open the car door, get into her seat and buckle and unbuckle her seat belt, she has been out of diapers since she was 22 months, she never wets her bed, she can put on her own shoes (any kind), she loves Dora, she loves wearing big poofy princess dresses to church, she loves having her toe nails and finger nails painted, she loves to swing at the park, and she is a total girly girly when she wants to be, but is way tough and rough at the same time.
Payton just melts my heart! He has grown up so fast over the last year. He will be starting school in August and I know he is ready! He knows the alphabet without hesitation. He is obsessed with GI JOES. He loves being in the go joe room with his dad. He is able to go in there at time without Josh because he knows he has to be super careful. Payton is such a sweet boy, he has a very sweet personality. He and Scarlett are not the same at all. Payton retains everything. He has begun quoting movies more and more, he loves watching GI Joe, Fireman Sam, Bob the Builder, Super Why, and Leap Frog. He can count to 30, he can write his first name, he is currently learning his address, he doesn't love to wear shorts, or short sleeved shirts and would rather wear pants and a sweatshirt. Many days I have to compromise with him and allow him to wear pants and a short sleeve shirt or he can wear shorts with a long sleeve shirt. He definitely has an opinion of his own. He does best when we keep with a simple routine in our life. He thinks he is big enough to go into the mens restroom all by himself (I don't love this). He can just about get everything in the kitchen by himself. He hates crust on bread, and has decided he loves homemade strawberry jam! He thinks the bathtub is a pool and is such a little fish. He is taking swim lessons again this year and has improved 100%. He is no longer afraid of the big pool, and loves to put his face under the water. He does a wonderful job at the dentist and hasn't had a cavity yet. He is an awesome big brother. He gets excited each morning when Scarlett wakes up. They usually say morning to each other and sometimes hug. He helps her when she needs help, and he only calls her Bum. He gets concerned with she gets hurt and tries his best to make her happy.
He loves to take my camera and take all types of pictures. This picture on the right is one that he took looking out a hole at Scarlett and I.
I am a very proud mom! I just adore both Payton and Scarlett with all my heart! They both bring a lot of joy into our home. They definitely cause challenges, but its from those challenges that makes us and them stronger. I wouldn't change a thing!
Scarlett loved that Payton was chasing her on their bikes. They both had huge smiles on their faces while playing together.
I am definitely a blessed and lucky mom. I know I am the one that writes everything, but I know Josh feels the same way. Every day the kids say they miss him at least 2 to 3 times, and the minute they hear the garage door opening they are both running to the door yelling "yeah, daddy is home". Josh loves these moments. I am grateful to be an eternal family!
