Utah Trip August 2014

August started out with a BANG! We loaded up in our big new vehicle and headed to Utah for 10 days!!!

We spent our first 4.5 days at Jana and Ben's house. We got to see all of Josh's siblings that lived in Utah. The kids loved being able to play with their cousins.  Mckinley loved holding Millie.
Mckinley and Raymond being cute!

The kids did a lot of playing inside and outside.

Mckinley fell into the window well. It scared her but she was fine.
Sleeping situations at times.

We went to this really awesome park and the kids loved it!

Mid week we left Jana and Ben's house and headed to a rental house with the Cambra Family.
Justing hanging out
Our first day there we headed to the lake and spent the day on the water and in dirt.
(Olivia, Scarlett, Stockton, Sofia, Hinckely)

We all had a great time playing in the water, driving the jet skis, eating, and using the kayaks

Scarlett even tried some tubing behind the jet ski. It wasn't her favorite.
Josh got Mckinley on the jet ski against her will. She did not like it.
We celebrated Ada's 7th birthday!

We set up a huge slip-n-slide in the backyard and the kids played

We went to a park and played a little kick ball.

Our vacation came to an end and we had to drive the 13+ hours home. The kids were very good and slept a lot. Scarlett some how got her leg tangled in the seatbelt and we almost had to cut the seatbelt because we couldn't get it off. Thankfully Josh was finally able to get her leg released.
We had a wonderful time in Utah. We loved being able to see so much family!

Half Marathon AND a HELLO & GOODBYE

Running a half marathon was not something I was dieting to do this summer. But my friend Nicole asked me and I thought sure why not. We started training at the end of April and we signed up for a run at the end of July. Our run was in CastroValley. We had no idea when we signed up how HARD and HILLY it would be.
We were both ready and excited to start the race. We had hoped to be able to run a 9 minute mile, but that did not happen.
Nicole is actually a young women I had at Girls Camp back in 2008. She is an amazing girl and I really enjoyed training with her. We got to know each other really well.
Before the race began we were a few people talking about the course. They were saying it was a tough one and that no one should try to break any of their records. I still didn't think much of it. We began the race and OH MAN the course was challenging. The first 3 miles were a lot of up hill but mile 3-4 was like straight up. I really thought I was going to die. I had no plan of walking but I was able to walk up the steep hills way faster than I could run up them.
This picture shows some of the course and the trail we had to run up.
When we hit mile 7-8 I really wanted to give up. I wanted to walk the rest of the way, but Nicole kept pushing me. When we hit mile 10 she was really hurting but wouldn't give up. The last mile felt like it was never going to end. I were both so dehydrated and just wanted to be done. We finally finished at about a 10 minute mile.
It took us both about a good 30 minutes to even take these pictures after the race. We were both dieting and could barley stand up. It was a joy to see Josh and the kids near the end. I will never run that course again in my life, but I am sure another half marathon will occur some day.
The joys of our garden harvest

We decided it was about time that we upgraded to a bigger vehicle. It all fell into place and we were able to get what we wanted plus a little more for the price we were wanting.
I wasn't sure if it would fit in the garage, so I was quite pleased with myself for getting it in. I am obsessed with parking my car in the garage.
Our Pathfinder was an amazing car and we never had a problem with it. I was a little sad to see it go, but it just means life is moving on and our family is growing. Unfortunately, the Pathfinder was just too small for the 5 of us and all our junk when we go camping or we go to Utah.
